Participating Clinical Centers

Since 1983 the Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation (AA&MDSIF) has served as the leading patient advocate and patient support group for bone marrow failure diseases. The BMFC has joined with the AA&MDSIF to establish a Clinical Trials Education & Referral Department to help patients:

  • understand and manage their illness;
  • become informed about standard and investigational treatments;
  • learn about participation in clinical trials;
  • easily contact hospitals where clinical trials are being conducted;
  • receive funding for travel and hotel expenses to participate in a clinical trial;
  • connect with doctors who specialize in bone marrow diseases;
  • connect with other patients and families who are dealing with these illnesses.

About Us:

The Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation (AA&MDSIF) is an independent nonprofit organization whose mission is to support patients, families, and caregivers coping with Aplastic Anemia (AA), Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS), Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH), and related bone marrow failure diseases.

The Foundation:

  • Provides educational materials, medical information, and access to peer support via a global network of volunteers who offer hope to those struggling with bone marrow failure diseases
  • Builds awareness and knowledge of bone marrow failure diseases among medical and healthcare professionals and the general public
  • Raises public and private support for research to improve patient treatments, restore patients to health, and ultimately, to find cures for bone marrow failure diseases

The Foundation's ongoing commitment and dedication to this mission is based on the organization's core values of fairness, integrity, transparency, respect, and responsibility.

Founded in 1983 by patients, families and doctors, the AA&MDSIF has grown into an international organization.  For over two decades, our services have been critically important to hundreds of thousands of people who have been devastated by bone marrow diseases.

The AA&MDSIF is supported largely through individual contributions from grateful families.  Some funding comes from grants from the National Institutes of Health and donations from pharmaceutical companies.
