What is the BMFDC?

The Bone Marrow Failure Disease Consortium (BMFDC) is a team of physicians, nurses, and patient advocates dedicated to the education, care, and treatment of patients with rare bone marrow failure diseases.

The BMFDC is here to improve the care of patients with aplastic anemia (AA), myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), pure red cell aplasia (PRCA), paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH), and large granular lymphocytic leukemia (LGL); to provide patients easy access to physicians who are experts in treating these diseases and who are conducting clinical trials; and to work together to find better treatments and a cure for bone marrow failure diseases.

As a result of a $71 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), we are part of a collaborative effort to study seven rare diseases, including bone marrow failure. If you have a diagnosis of aplastic anemia (AA), myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH), or another bone marrow failure disease, we hope you’ll benefit from the information on this website.
